i suggest to do a complete overhaul in the loot tables to make them more "realistic", to balance out the market, to help server overall performance.
first of all i have to say, i don't do a lot of belt ratting, so i can't really tell which loot drops random rats have (but i do a lot of lvl4 missions), nor i am deep into manufacturing. and i'm not an economy guru at all, please keep that in mind, while reading the following suggestions. so a discussion on my arguments will be apreciated.
the loot in missions (well especially in lvl4 ones) is just too much, most of it is not worth anything, and seems to be totally random.
too much loot factor:
the problem with that is, you will have a lot of T1 stuff which isn't worth much, so most of the time you will end up either selling it for a very low price, or reprocessing, which gives you some minerals.
both cases have negative influence on "the eve economy" i would say.
- lot of T1 stuff on the market -> prices will go down -> manufacturing them will be less profitable
- lot of minerals on the market from reprocessing -> prices for minerals go down -> makes mining less profitable
- lot of transactions going on -> less server performance
the random factor:
the random factor of the loot kills immersion, at least for me. i hate to find out, that a 1.5 Million rat's loot is a Miner I + Cargo Expander I + a Tech I Drone which it had not used. No wonder NPC's in most cases, are no thread at all. Rolling Eyes
so i would suggest, remove most of the mission loot, slightly raise the drop rate of named + better loot, and make it more depended to the actual rat behaviour (no mining lasers on combat vessels).
i think this would lead to:
- no isk loss (earnings will be quite the same) - significant immersion gain - stress on the market prices will be less (manufacturing + mining more profitable) - stress on server performance will be less (less transactions) - missions being less time consuming (right now, looting + salvaging + selling, takes longer than the mission itself)
as i said, feedback will be highly appreciated Smile
I have carefully considered the views and opinions expressed in the post above and have come to the realisation that they are equal to my own. I wholeheartedly wish to reiterate the opinions expressed in the quoted post and believe the actions suggested should be executed post haste.
